A beautiful label that drops the mandatory information is useless: the product simply cannot legally reach the shelf. Good label design blends the brand look with every required detail without turning into a wall of text. The real challenge is fitting a lot of required content while keeping a clean, selling look. Here is what it must hold and how to keep it readable.

The elements you cannot skip

Whatever the product, a few blocks of information are always required. We group them logically so they do not read like a wall of letters:

  • Product name and brand, clearly visible.
  • Composition / ingredients in the required order.
  • Net weight or volume.
  • Barcode with a clear quiet zone so it scans.
  • Manufacturer details and shelf life.

Readability is a requirement, not an option

Tiny, low-contrast text on a busy background becomes unreadable — and sometimes non-compliant. We use a large enough type size, clear contrast between text and background, and breathing room around critical information. Ingredients and warnings must be legible without a magnifier. If the label is small, we simplify the background under the text so the letters do not get lost in the artwork.

The barcode has its own rules

A pretty barcode that will not scan blocks the sale at the till. We respect the minimum size, the correct contrast (usually dark bars on a light background) and the required quiet zone on the sides. We never place it across folds or curves that distort it.

From requirements to the final artwork

We prepare the label artwork — a correctly built design file with every mandatory element in place and the technical zones (cut, bleed) ready for print. You print with your own supplier; we carry the creative work and visual compliance to the finish. If you want a label that looks good and meets the requirements, the shadowforge team delivers print-ready artwork.
